GHOST LOCKET
Back seat of the sedan,
three-year-old me
leans on my grandmother,
strokes her sealskin coat,
its cool pelts. I look up to
see the locket around her neck.
The girl in the locket
stares back, does not smile.
That’s my Cindy, says my
grandmother, she’s
in a better place now. –shh– –shh–
